Marriage and baptism are two of the sacraments, or sacred rites, of the Episcopal Church. While they are joyous occasions, preparation for both is taken seriously. Please contact the Parish Office at 302-994-1584 if you are interested in either.
The Covenant of Baptism
Holy Baptism is a sacramental rite “by which God adopts us as his children and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God” (from the Catechism of The Book of Common Prayer, page 858). Basically, at baptism we enter into an eternal Covenant with God where we pledge to renounce what is evil in the world, to put our whole trust in God’s grace and love, and to follow and obey Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Persons of any age may be baptized, including infants and children who have those who will support them and see that they are brought up in the Christian faith and life. Since we are an active, worshiping congregation we invite you, if you do not already, to join us for worship so that we might first get to know one another. Part of our responsibility is to encourage any person who is being baptized, and any supporting family members or friends, by finding ways to incorporate this step in faith into the fabric of daily living.
Marriage
Our historic church has been the site of many weddings. Since we are an active, worshiping congregation we invite you, if you do not already, to join us for worship so that we can get to know one another. We view the offering of the Church’s blessing on marriage relationships to be a part of our ministry to those who are seeking not just a location for their wedding but a spiritual home as well. So plan on attending, and be sure to introduce yourself to our rector, Father Ben Rockwell. Please view our wedding policy.
